Leasing A Domain Name vs Leasing A Developed Domain Name
Leasing domain names or leasing developed domain names. Before I continue let me state two points; the first being that this post is totally in relation to my experience, and I am not trying to state any absolutes here. The second is that even in my own experience I am biased to leasing developed domain names, as my team, nor myself have really put much effort into trying to lease just our domain names.
For clarification purposes, what I mean by ‘we don’t put much effort into leasing domain names’ is that we rarely try to contact businesses or individuals (cold calling or emailing) with a pitch to lease our domain names. Maybe we should? Watching the team over at Domain Holdings with awesome domain name sales stats we have even explored getting in on the domain name sales action.
So because we do not sell our domain names, and rarely work at leasing undeveloped domain names, you must of figured out at this point that leasing developed domain names is what we focus on.
Now when we state developed domain names what do we mean by this?
When we say developed domain names we are referring to taking one of our domain names, aligning it to an identified purpose we have, designing this domain name on a WordPress installation, and then optimizing it with content to begin the ranking process for the subject or keywords we want to rank for.
Now there is a lot more that goes into the identification of which domain name we will select for development purposes (the why), a crafted marketing plan, and leasing strategy plan that will ultimately help us target the right clients, at the right time, but this gives you an idea of our process.
Developing Domain Names for Lease
I have been very, very busy developing domain names for current clients, and a dozen or so domains in ‘niches’ I want to enter into (or lease these domains into). I find that it is better to start developing domain names soon after purchase so that you start indexing them, adding content onto them, and ranking them. It is so much easier to lease a domain name that is already ranked well then to lease a parked domain name; at least in MY experience.
Here are some recent domain purchases:
quéhacer.com – what to do?
bienesraícesdelujo.com – luxury real estate
БОГАТЫЕ.COM – rich
БОГАТЫХ.COM – rich
Because I do not speak Russian or Spanish I am either going to JV on these domain names or lease them out as well…but these are examples of domain names I will not be developing myself. Of course in the case of these domain names they may even be for sale.
If you own a large domain portfolio or a bunch of great domain names that you want to develop or lease out I would love to hear from you. I am always excited about working with other domain name developers!
