Make Money Online with Domain Names

In this post I will explain how an $8 dollar investment can make you (easily) over $1200 dollars a year. Many people talk about making lots of money online, and you can do so with domain name development.

I know because I have done the exact same thing with dozens of domain names!

Most people think you need to find a premium one word domain name to start and grow a business online. What if there was virtually a fail proof blueprint to setting up a great passive income system that pays you residually, month after month, year after year, wouldn’t you want in?

So let me get right to it, but before I tell you the amazingly simple way to build residual income let me include an invite to anyone who feels they want to contact me get help duplicating this for yourself.

Generate Income Developing Domain Names

It all starts with a domain name. An $8 dollar domain name that you will hand register yourself from a domain registry like Godaddy.

So the biggest question you may be asking is ‘what type of domain name should you register’? The domain names I like to register and either develop to lease or put ads on is local service industry domain names.

What I mean by local service industry domain names is I start with my local area, NYC, and then pick a service industry, like plumbing, or construction, and then I add the word company, service, companies, etc. to the end of it; for example NYCPlumbingCompany.com

I pick these types of domain names to invest in because it’s virtually impossible to not find a business or solopreneur that would be interested in these types of domains. Its just a matter of negotiating a price!

Now once you have registered a domain name you will need hosting. My personal favorite is resellers panel however I have 4 hosting accounts with Godaddy (can be challenging hosting with them) and a dedicated server with another company…but I own 1000+ domain names, and a few hundred websites online, so one hosting account will be all you’ll need to start.

Once the domain name is purchased and you setup your hosting account the next step is to install WordPress, which is free and the best foundation to develop your domain name on. You will also have to find a nice free theme or purchase a low cost premium theme.

Then you need to get started developing the domain name, which basically means getting it ranked with quality content and building it into an authority website.

Now using the example domain name mentioned above, it can take you anywhere from a few weeks to a month or two to get the website ranked on the first page of Google. This is why I typically work on developing 5 to 10 domain names at the same time so that you are continuously developing and ranking domain names which will be leased or optimized to generate income.

Once I rank the website I will begin researching, or reviewing potential leads to contact to discuss the domain opportunity. In another post I will get more detailed about how to find customers to lease your domain name, and in many cases battle it out to be the customer you select!

Finding Customers Paying For Ranked Websites

For now I’ll share a simple yet highly effective strategy to find potential customers that would want to lease your website, or run ads on your website, whichever you developed your domain name for.

To find potential customers simply go to Google and type in the different keywords and search phrases you optimized your site for. So if the website is NYCPlumbingCompany.com and you optimized it for this industry, then some of the keywords / search phrases would be; NYC Plumbing Company, NYC Plumbers, Plumbers NYC, etc.

These searches will reveal two things, one being who is paying Google for these keywords, and secondly, who is ranking for these keywords organically.

Now you will want to focus on pages 2 – 10 for companies ranking for these keywords and get their contact information. Companies on pages 4 – 10 I find are more willing to invest in my developed domain names that are ranked on page 1 of Google the those who already rank on page 2 and 3. There are reasons for this, but that will have to be covered at a later time.

Once I compile the list of potential customers I send them the pitch. The offer is always cheaper then they would pay to Google for paid listings, and I emphasis the ability to lock in a long term, cost effective first page rank solution for their business.

For most local service related businesses I can tell you my experience is they are more then willing to pay $100 a month for this service. And of course many clients I serve actually have us develop multiple domain names for their website!

I actually have a client that I have developed almost 40 websites for!!!

Making Money Online and Residual Income

Now to make some great residual income all you have to do is invest in more domain names and duplicate this strategy again and again.

And always remember, there will be many clients you will contract with for much higher monthly lease agreements; my largest lease agreement is $2500 a month, with a few others at the $1200 and $500 a month mark!
