Geo specific domain names have always proved valuable when put to use on projects we were working on for ourselves, or when leased out and developed for clients.
As we look at which new projects to take on, or domains in our portfolio to develop and monetize, we are taking a closer look at some of our Geo Domain names and possible partnerships with companies like CitiesPlanet.com (check out the June article on DNJournal.com to get some great info on them.)
The difference between a Geo specific domain name ( NYCPlumbingCompany.com) vs a Geo domain name (HopewellJunction.com) is the level of effort it will take to develop it into an authority site and keep the domain name relevant.
In my opinion keeping a Geo domain name relevant and the time and resources needed to create value for those who visit it will be extensive. This is why we are looking at potential development partners like Cities Planet to get the dozen or so Geo domains that we own.
Other possibilities we considered include creating sites with WordPress Multi Site, using community software so that those that live in the areas our domains pertain to can help keep the site relevant, or invest the time and money in house.
Of course we always have the option to lease our geo domain names so that others can put these eProperties to great use.
If you own geo domains and have developed them into valuable eProperties we want to hear from you!
